Calls intensify for Tory Lanez’s release from prison

Calls are mounting for Canadian singer, Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, popularly known as Tory Lanez to be released from prison.

A wave of public support has emerged, with celebrities like Drake and Amber Rose sharing a petition demanding Lanez’s release from prison.

The 33-year-old is currently serving a 10-year prison term for shooting Grammy award winning American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

In a dramatic turn of events, Lanez’s lawyer, Walter Roberts, has introduced new claims suggesting that Megan’s former friend and assistant, Kelsey Harris, may have been the one who pulled the trigger on the night in question.

According to Roberts, a member of Harris’s security team recently came forward, stating his conscience could no longer allow him to stay silent while an innocent Black man sits in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Tory Lanez allegedly took the fall to protect Harris and shield her from prosecution. In what is said to be a leaked text exchange with media personality Jason Lee.

“I took the rap for Kelsey, never wanted her to go to jail and I never wanted Megan to get hurt or anything, so in me stopping her from getting shot I got the raw deal. Crazy how life works and to think they made me the poster boy for the un-protection of Black women. When in all honesty I protected two Black women,” said Lanez in the alleged exchange with podcaster Jason Lee.

These revelations follow shocking reports that Lanez was recently stabbed 14 times while incarcerated at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.

The rapper had to be airifted and taken to hospital with collapsed lungs.
