Amapiano artist Mpho Lebajoa whose real name is Scotts Maphuma says his fans and the public deserve his apology.
The 29-year-old has been at the center of public debate following his bold statement that he is not obligated to take photos with fans, adding that they didn’t contribute to his rise to fame.
In a turn of events at the recent Cotton Fest event, unimpressed attendees snubbed his performance, showing little enthusiasm for his set.
Speaking in an Instagram live, the Yebo Lapho hitmaker has publicly apologised to his supporters and fans for the way he treated them.
“I am sorry guys, I didn’t treat you well, I didn’t speak right, I believe we are fine. You guys have been supporting me even before I apologised.”

Despite the apology, some South Africans are not moved.
I sadly don’t feel bad for Scott’s maphuma, I hate people that feel untouchable especially when God has blessed them with a chance to change their lives and the lives of their families.
The are many artists who would die to have the same hype he has and he chose to play with it

Vogue cancelled Scotts Maphuma as a headliner for their upcoming event because of the negative comments people made yesterday about boycotting the event. I think it’s very sad, to be honest really, very sad.We can not thrive on peoples downfalls this bad. I feel so sad for him

Scotts Maphuma situation proving, yet again, that the youth knows how to mobilise against forces that undermine their agency. They just need to be taught to channel that energy towards our government.
