Family of missing three-year-old, Mojalefa Savhuli, says police have let them down in the search for the toddler.
The three-year-old went missing in Tshepisong on Sunday while he was following his peers to a local spaza shop.
The frantic search for the autistic boy continues, with community members now joining the efforts.
The toddler’s uncle, Solomon, says when they reported the child missing on Sunday, police made jokes about the matter.
He says authorities only began taking the matter seriously once it started gaining media attention.
“The community has been very helpful ever since the disappearance of the child, they’ve been helping us throughout the process. We are disheartened and as the days go by, we are growing worried, we’ve tried everything, put up posters, posts on social media, people have been supportive.”
He says the family suspects the toddler was abducted.
“There’s been reports around the community and neighbouring communities of young children being taken and kidnapped, so we suspect that it’s one of those cases.”
He added that they remain hopeful that the little boy will be found.
The three-year-old’s grandmother says they now live in fear.
“I’m devastated, I don’t even know how to explain my feelings, I don’t know how to do anything cause there’s no clue of where the child might be, I am tired. One Sunday we went into the bushes and water until 11pm at night,” she says.
