Evangelist and self-proclaimed prophet, Shepherd Bushiri, says he and his wife, Mary, will challenge their extradition to South Africa.

Yesterday, a Malawian court ruled in favour of their extradition to face charges in a fraud and money laundering case.

The couple fled to their home country in November 2020 after the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court granted them bail.

Addressing congregants at a thanksgiving service last night, Bushiri expressed confidence that God will see them through.

He said their prayers have been a source of strength during this time.

The 42-year-old also announced that the Malawian court dismissed 10 of the 13 charges they faced due to lack of evidence.

“This is a tremendous victory, and we give all the glory to God. His ways are indeed supreme, and He works wonders in our lives. We are humbled and grateful for His faithfulness and intervention in our affairs.”

“This victory is not just about us; it’s about the advancement of God’s Kingdom and the spread of the Gospel. It’s a testament to the power of prayer and the faithfulness of our God,” he added.

While the couple hopes for a miracle, Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, says South Africa is confident it has a strong case against them.

Ntshavheni reaffirmed the government’s commitment to collaborating with Interpol.

“This ruling shows that no one can run away from the rule of law and also reaffirms judicial independence, international cooperation, and mutual trust between South Africa and Malawi.”
