Political analyst, Professor Musa Xulu, says the continued squabbles within the MK Party will prevent the party from growing and possibly being a strong official opposition.

Professor Xulu is reacting to Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla’s public attack on the party’s secretary general, Floyd Shivambu, labelling him useless.

Zuma-Sambudla has since apologised to Shivambu after the party ordered her to do so or face expulsion.

Speaking to YNews, Prof Xulu said Zuma-Sambudla doesn’t understand how political organisations thrive on discipline and respect.

He says the scenes playing out in the MKP are all a result of the party’s failure to set out a constitution from the beginning.

Political commentator, Goodenough Mashego, has also weighed in and says the chaos that’s playing out at Jacob Zuma’s party is a reflection of the organisation’s culture.

Mashego says it’s important to remember that some of the people who formed the MKP are no longer with the party – mainly – due to some people who believe that they’re above others.

Like Professor Xulu, he also points to the lack of legitimate structures within MKP as an albatross.

Some social media users are conflicted over Zuma-Sambudla’s apology.
