Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi, has been hailed as a true pan-African after cancelling her music tour in Rwanda.
The music sensation, known for her rich and soulful sound, has apologised for promoting her show in Rwanda without realising that there is an ongoing conflict.
The ‘Me & U’ hitmaker has cancelled her ‘Born In The Wild’ world tour that was scheduled for March in Kigali.
“I never ever intend to be insensitive to real-world issues, and I sincerely apologise if this came across that way,” said the Grammy award-winning singer who will also be performing here in South Africa in March.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to simmer in the eastern DRC, with more than a hundred people having been killed in recent weeks as the conflict between DRC forces and the Rwandan-backed M23 militant group continue.
Among those who have been died are 13 South African soldiers.
