Social media users are not sympathetic to rapper Dajua Blanding, also known as Dank Demoss, after her exchange with a Lyft driver, who refused to transport her because of her weight.

The e-hailing driver said she wouldn’t fit in his car.

Blanding has said she was trying to get to a Detroit Lions watch party at the time of the incident, that’s captured in a video that’s gone viral.

She says she was left embarrassed because she has ridden in smaller vehicles, before, without any issues.

In the video below, the driver can also be heard telling her that his tyres would not be able to handle the weight.

Blanding has now decided to sue the e-hailing service for discrimination.

She says her feelings were hurt even though the driver offered to refund her.

According to her attorneys, the refusal is illegal as weight is a protected characteristic in Michigan.

In a statement, Lyft said it “unequivocally condemns” all forms of discrimination.

“We believe in a community where everyone is treated with equal respect and mutual kindness. Our community guidelines and terms of service explicitly prohibit harassment or discrimination,” read the statement.

Some people have however thrown their weight behind her.

The rapper is proudly plus-sized and an advocate for body positivity.
