The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has expressed concern over infamous celebrity blogger Musa Khawula’s apparent pattern of evading arrest.

It says it will oppose bail when he returns to court next week due to his pending murder case and an outstanding warrant for reckless driving.

“The decision lies with the court. It will make a determination on whether or not he’s a suitable candidate to be released on bail,” says NPA Gauteng Spokesperson, Phindi Mjonondwane.

Khawula’s bail application was put on hold as his defence team needed more time to gather information.

He appeared before the Randburg Magistrate Court earlier.

Khawula faces charges of crimen injuria and contempt of court for allegedly making defamatory remarks on his online blog.

His legal troubles began in November when he refused to apologise to prominent businessman Ze Nxumalo for claiming he was cheating on his wife, Tamaryn Green, despite a high court order demanding it.

The accused’s defence team objected to the media’s request to broadcast court proceedings, but this was dismissed by the magistrate, Liesel Davis.

He returns to court on Wednesday, where he’s expected to make a formal bail application.

Khawula has two outstanding warrants, including one for the 2022 murder of his ex-boyfriend Wandile Khambule and another for negligent driving.
