Non-profit organisation, Khulisa Social Solutions, has urged parents to immediately take action when they see early signs of a concerning behaviour from their children. That ranges from anything between petty crime or serious crimes, such as rape or sexual assault.

The organisation’s programmes’ manager, Robert Molefe, says the best solution is arrange a meeting for them to talk with a person who has gone down the destructive path they’re headed so they can see the consequences of such behaviour.

The organisation’s remarks are in reaction to the recent court appearance of renowned actress Sonia Mbele’s son, Donell Mbele, who is accused of raping his 17-year-old partner.

The scandal is not a first for the 23-year0ld.

In 2022, his then-girlfriend laid charges of physical assault against him.

At the time, his mother who is an abuse survivor, released a statement expressing her support for the victim. She also promised to send Donell to rehab.

Weeks later, however, he posted a picture of a blue Porsche, and this image has resurfaced on social media with some questioning how he was supposed to learn a lesson, if he would later be rewarded for delinquent behaviour.

Responding to this, Molefe urged parents to stop protecting their children from the consequences of their actions.

He says buying children gifts after being in hot water is a bad move.

He has also highlighted the need for role models within communities, especially for the boy child, since the black communities are riddled with fatherless homes.

Molefe opened up to YNews on why he believes that each person chooses their path, considering that he too was raised in an environment where he saw his mother being abused by his father but chose to fight against the spread of GBV.
