Some American A-listers, including Paris Hilton, Ben Affleck, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Rikki Lake and Leighton Meester are reeling from shock after they lost their homes to the raging flames in Los Angleles that have ground Hollywood to a halt.

As the fires continue to rage on, social media users have called on the US government to do more to assist those affected by the disaster.

The LA County has, since yesterday, been dealing with the devastating fires that have left five people dead, and many homes destroyed. It has forced over 130 000 people to evacuate their homes in the lush Hollywood Hills.

Firefighters have been battling to contain at least five fires, which were sparked by dry conditions and powerful winds reaching up to about 100kms, causing much devastation.

The disaster has also affected the power supply in parts of the county after several electricity structures were destroyed.

Some Americans are blaming the Democrats of failing to ensure that the county and State are protected against such disasters.

Reports suggest that the Los Angeles Mayor, Karen Bass, slashed the state’s Fire Department budget by more than $17 million last year, and prioritised spending on the city’s homeless population.

However, political commentator, Brooks Spector, says there was no way Bass could’ve predicted that the disaster would affect the state in the manner it has.

It is reported that Ben Affleck is now sheltering with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, and their two children.

US President-elect, Donald Trump, has slammed the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, for the disaster, saying the state prioritises protecting endangered species over making sure that the county has enough water flow.

However, Newsom has hit back, saying there is no “water restoration declaration” document that needs to be signed, which Trump claims it would have freed up gallons of water for the state.

Speaking to YNews, Spector said the spat between the two is unnecessary.
