In a mutual decision, Pirates and Mthethwa parted ways to allow the player to pursue opportunities at a club where he can consistently get playing time.
Mthethwa has not featured for Pirates this season as coach Jose Riveiro has preferred a defensive pairing of players like Thabiso Sesane, Olisa Ndah, and Nkosinathi Sibisi.
Throughout his time at Pirates, the 27-year-old defender only made 21 appearances across all competitions. During his stay at the club, he won the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup titles.
Meanwhile, in a separate move, Pirates confirmed that midfielder Otladisa will join Sekhukhune United on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Otladisa, who joined Pirates last year after impressing at Marumo Gallants, has yet to feature for the Soweto giants during the current campaign.
This loan move to Babina Noko will provide Otladisa with an opportunity to regain his confidence. At Pirates, the 28-year-old attacker has made only 12 appearances across all competitions, failing to register a goal or an assist. Written by Ntsako Mkhari
