Many South Africans are heartbroken over Mia Le Roux’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 Miss Universe Pageant.

Le Roux has been suffering from severe vertigo affecting her balance.  The reigning Miss SA queen has also cited deaf fatigue as part of her health challenges.

Deaf fatigue is a common result of hearing loss that occurs when the brain works harder to process sounds and words.

South Africans, who continue to rally behind Le Roux, believe she would have come back home with that title.

The 73rd edition of the grand event will take place in Mexico City tomorrow.

The top 30 contestants from around the world will walk the ramp for that crown in various rounds.

Le Roux says, while deaf fatigue is a common occurrence, she wants to focus on getting better so she can continue serving her country.

The pageant queen has also extended her gratitude for the support she has received since she was crowned in August.

Le Roux is the first differently abled person to be crowned Miss SA.

The 29-year-old from the Western Cape won the hearts of many when she defied the odds and came out at the top.

Last month, Le Roux introduced her movement dedicated to advocating for the estimated 4 million deaf individuals in South Africa and raising awareness about all forms of exclusion.

Messages of support have been pouring in for Le Roux, who says withdrawing was not an easy decision.
