Bafana Bafana coach, Hugo Broos, is so confident that Bafana Bafana will qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations that he has vowed to leave his job and take the first flight out back to Belgium next week Tuesday should they not qualify.
Bafana will take on Uganda in Kampala on Friday and then end their qualifying campaign in Cape Town against South Sudan.
Broos’ charges sit second in Group K with just eight points after four matches. Uganda are two points ahead of Bafana, while Congo-Brazzaville sit in third place with four points and South Sudan at the very bottom with zero points.
South Africa need just two points to qualify for the showpiece in Morocco, but the Belgian mentor wants a win in either Kampala or the Mother City to secure their ticket.
“I have to be honest, sure I looked at what the rules are in the weeks leading up to this camp,” he said.
“I know that a few years ago (in 2011), South Africa was dancing on the pitch (thinking that they had qualified for the 2012 Afcon) but they hadn’t qualified. So, we can’t make a mistake.
“If we lose these two games, five minutes after the last game, I will fly to Belgium. You can be sure of it. If we can’t win in Uganda, okay – but if we can’t win at home? At home against South Sudan! I will immediately take a flight to Belgium, and you will never see me again.”
Bafana will leave for Kampala on Thursday ahead of their fixture on Friday.
