Renowned American music composer, songwriter, arranger and producer, Quincy Jones, is being remembered for his impact in the industry.

The music giant passed on at the age of 91 yesterday.

His family representative and publicist, Arnold Robinson, announced his passing earlier today, sparking an inundation of tributes from fans.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing,” said the Jones family.

“And although this is an incredible loss for the family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him.”

It is reported that Jones passed on at home in California, surrounded by loved ones.

“We take comfort and immense pride in knowing that the love and joy, that were the essence of his being, was shared with the world through all that he created,” the Jones family added.

Jones mastered recording by the likes of Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and Ray Charles, amongst others.

With a career approximately spanning eight decades, Jones is third only to Beyonce and Jay-Z, for having the most Grammy nominations of a lifetime, managing to secure 28 Grammy Award wins.

Jones is responsible for uniting 46 of America’s most popular artists in 1985 to produce timeless single “We Are the World”, while raising funds to support famine-stricken Ethiopians at the time.

Jones is the soundtrack producer of more than 50 films and television programmes, including the 1969 British film “The Italian Job.”

He erected a successful television and film production company in 1990, producing the sitcom, “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”, amongst others.

He also produced the 2005 Musical adaptation of the film, “The Color Purple”.
