Sport Minister, Gayton McKenzie, plans to meet with both SAFA and the PSL about the lack of VAR in domestic football.
The outspoken Minister says it is high time that the technology is introduced into the local game.
Calls for VAR in the Premier Soccer League have gotten louder amid officiating controversies. Those outcries were particularly loud on Saturday after questionable decisions in Mamelodi Sundowns’ 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs.
βAll football loving fans know that the time for VAR has arrived in SA football,β McKenzie posted on social media.
All football loving fans know that the time for VAR has arrived in SA football. We need VAR & we need it now, those meetings start now because we are not a 10th world country. I shall report back soonest after meeting SAFA & the PSL this week.

SAFA boss, Dr Danny Jordaan, has previously expressed readiness to implement VAR, but said there a few issues that needed to be sorted before they can hit the ground running with it.
