Some South Africans say the banning of the president yamaBhinca, Ngizwe Mchunu, from travelling on FlySafair airlines is justified.
Mchunu has been in the spotlight over his spat with a flight attendant in August.
In a viral video, Mchunu and a group of men are heard chanting traditional Zulu slogans, sparking complaints from some passengers.
Mchunu is also seen yelling at a flight attendant, telling her that it is tradition that they praise the Zulu Monarch when at the King Shaka International Airport.
“There is nothing that we did wrong. If there is something that we did wrong, why then were we not arrested because the law does not negotiate?… We have rules here in KwaZulu-Natal and the airports. I am saying FlySafair must pack their bags and leave the King Shaka International airport,” says Mchunu.
Following his banishment, Mchunu has demanded that the airline apologise to him and the entire Zulu kingdom in seven days for trying to gag them.
The former Ukhozi FM presenter lamented the perceived prejudice against black people compared to other races.
Mchunu has also demanded an urgent meeting with the CEO of the airline, while also labelling him as being drunk for sending him an email about the ban on him.
South Africans say his actions were disrespectful.
I also stand with FlySafair . Ngizwe is poseur. Here thinks he’s more important than he actually is.

We thank @FlySafair for their correct decision. Ngizwe likes doing dumb things & hide behind culture & the people of KZN.
Our King board’s flights with his men, they’ve never infringed on other passengers peace. Now who’s Ngizwe compared to the Zulu King…

On behalf of the Zulu nation, @FlySafair please don’t take Ngizwe Mchunu seriously. As the Zulu nation, we’re still surprised as to why he’s not in Weskoppies.

Ngizwe uphambene, makathenge his own airline and do as he pleases.

Culture vs aeroplanes????? Are you nuts??? Kings respect the aviation laws. Who is Ngizwe?

I like Ngizwe Mchunu’s charisma kodwa one day they’ll hit him with a lawsuit.
He’s an outstanding member of the Zulu youth that should be attracting good attention to the nation and him working with brands not what he is doing.

Other South Africans are, however, on his side.
I so much want to disagree with Ngizwe, I was annoyed when I saw that video of theirs initially, but I think there’s something we can debate with regards to how other people/cultures/religions are given preferences in many different spaces but not “Africans”.

We give you @FlySafair 7 days to apologize to Ngizwe

Ngizwe has a point. @FlySafair lift that ban with immediate effect. https://t.co/LbZJahbg1V

I hate to agree with Ngizwe a bit. Man has a point regarding how African natives are just not ‘permitted’ to honour their ways in such spaces.

Ngebhadi ngiyavumelana nalesdomu kuloku!
We’re being undermined. Nothing wrong in demonstrating your culture anywhere in a free country like South Africa and anywhere else.
We’ve witnessed choirs bursting in song on a plane while traveling. What’s different now!

There’s nothing that I like to see than an African man uzzing his Masculinity against the settler. Don’t like Ngizwe but bro is cooking here 🤌🏾🔥
