Canadian singer and rapping sensation, Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, popularly known as Tory Lanez, has assured music fans that he won’t be in prison for much longer.
He made the remarks as congratulatory messages continue to pour in following the news of his high school graduation and recent enrollment into college – while behind bars.
“I never thought I’d do that, but I’m taking this moment and taking advantage of everything that’s good,” said the rapper while celebrating his new achievement.
The 32-year-old is currently serving a 10-year prison term for shooting Grammy award winning American rapper, Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, popularly known as, Megan Thee Stallion, in 2022.
He gave the surprise update on his achievement at the weekend.
Speaking from his prison cell, Peterson phoned into internet personality and Kick streamer, Adin Ross’ show.

The update by the young musician comes days after he released his first project from behind bars titled, Prison Tapes, which fans have received well.
He has assured supporters that he will work on mastering the quality of his music.
Last week, his push for an early release suffered a blow after a California Attorney General’s Office rejected his legal team’s bid to submit new evidence in his case.
