The family of 21-year-old Busiswa Nxumalo, who was allegedly killed for a R6 million insurance payout, says despite them never having met her employer, they thought she was safe, as she lived with her.
Earlier today, nurse Sithembile Xulu, along with her co-accused gardener, Simon Mogale, appeared in the Lenasia Magistrates Court.
Their case was, however, postponed to next week Monday after Xulu’s lawyer reported sick.
It’s alleged she took out three separate life insurance policies on her young domestic worker’s life.
The nurse and Mogale are accused of slitting the young woman’s throat and dumping her body near Lenasia.
Speaking outside court, Nxumalo’s uncle, Njabulo, said the family never suspected that the 21-year-old would be killed for money.
Nxumalo’s uncle says Xulu and her co-accused must remain behind bars.
