The three friends, who travelled from London (UK) to Cape Town, say they are looking forward to exploring South Africa and seeing what it has to offer.

Karen, James, Spence and their car Edna had social media users, including South Africans, following their journey closely for about three months now.

They finally made it to the Mother City after leaving their home in March through a ferry from Dover to France.

The doctor friends also took stops in Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and Angola.

Karen has revealed that while in France, they drove three hours and visited Versailles.

The besties travelled about 7 430km in four weeks. They would camp where they could along the way as Edna was modified with a tent on the back.

They crossed over from Europe into Africa on day five of their trip, first landing in Morocco.

Karen even at some point did her nails during camp in the northern African country, saying she wanted them to slay even they were wild camping.

They also did a lot of cooking whilst camping, eating from restaurants whenever they could.

The friends faced a number of problems from their air-conditioning breaking down several times to visa issues. They even had to bribe officials at some point.

The trip also exposed them to significant dangers, such as camping in forests and open veld where they are vulnerable to wildlife, the elements and human threats.

Karen also experienced a traumatic experience in Ghana, when she was sexually assaulted as a man masturbated while watching her sleep.

The journey nearly came to an end when Edna snapped in half on Day 27 of their trip due to strain on the car’s frame.

โ€œEdna snapped in half and we’re unsure if we can continue our trip. During the crossing from Nigeria to Cameroon we encountered the worst roads of the trip so far. This put a huge strain on Edna’s already compromised chassis,โ€ Karen shared on an Instagram post.

They then asked for donations to help in fixing their car.

Toyota even decided to intervene and give them a car, which the trio rejected.

They also had to leave a puppy they had adopted in Benin, Ibie, and gave to a mine worker in Nigeria, who was looking to adopt a dog.

As if that was not enough, a number of days later on Day 38, their car, Edna got stuck in mud in Cote d’Ivoire and had to get help from the locals the next day.

Covering nearly 16 000km and traversing diverse terrains and climates, the doctors who have been friends for about 10 years, officially made it in one piece in South Africa’s legislative capital, leaving social media users in awe.
