The five men linked to the killing of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his friend, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, have been denied bail.

The suspects face a number of charges including murder, attempted murder and money laundering.

AKA and Tibz were gunned down outside Wish restaurant on Durban’s famous Florida road in February last year.

Handing down judgment, Judge Vincent Hlatshwayo said it would be reckless of the court to release the suspects on bail.

Hlatshwayo told the court that the evidence brought before court, so far, shows that there is a case for the suspects to answer.

So far, the court has heard evidence that AKA was the target on the evening he was killed.

It is alleged that the rapper was followed from the moment he landed at the airport till the moment he was killed.

It was also revealed in court that the more than R800 000 paid into accused number four’s bank account on the night that AKA was killed came from a company owned by Sydney Mfundo Gcaba.

Gcaba comes from one of the most feared families in KwaZulu-Natal that runs a taxi empire.

What raised more eyebrows in court is that the state further revealed that the bank account where the more than R800 000 deposit was made, was opened and closed on the same day of the fateful killing.

The extradition case of the two other suspects who were caught in Eswatini has been postponed to next month.
