Young MK Party supporters outside the Constitutional Court have hailed former president, Jacob Zuma’s time in office as a high point for youth empowerment and job creation.

They say under Zuma’s leadership, young people of all races could find jobs and climb the ladder of opportunity.

They were speaking on the sidelines of the IEC’s Constitutional Court bid to have Zuma taken off the MK Party’s candidate list.

The IEC is seeking clarity on the application of law, which bars convicted criminals to run for public office before a five-year five lapse of their conviction.

The ruling by the ConCourt on Zuma’s electoral eligibility could prove tantamount to the outcome of the national elections.

There’s talk the MK Party could become the kingmaker amid speculation that the ANC is likely to lose its majority and may be forced into a coalition.

Speaking with YNews, the young MK supporters say Zuma would be welcomed back to power.

Earlier today, Zuma lost his counterapplication to have six justices recused in the matter.

Zuma says Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo, along with Justices Mbuyiseli Madlanga, Steven Majiedt, Leona Theron, Nonkosi Mhlantla and Zukisa Tshiqi presided over his contempt of court matter that sent him to prison back in 2021 and should therefore not be involved in the current matter before the courts.

His lawyer, Advocate Dali Mpofu, however, failed to convince the Apex Court that Zuma would suffer prejudice should they remain. Written by Naomi Kobbie
