Despite this, however, the MK Party is adamant that it will make history by winning a two-thirds majority during the upcoming vote.
Last month, the party shared that should it be voted into power, provinces will be led by Amakhosi (Chiefs), once again reigniting the calls once made by the late IFP leader, uMangosuthu Buthelezi, for KZN to be a Zulu state.
Despite the party’s ambitions, however, some South Africans are skeptical on whether the new kid on the political block will actually make it to the May 29 general elections as it keeps shedding members it believes are spies for the ANC.
The MK Party-aligned Injeje yamaNguni Council recently made headlines after it issued a warning to MK ‘founder’ Jabulani Khumalo to increase his security.
The group is upset over Khumalo’s request to the IEC to remove Zuma as the face and president of the MK Party.
Xulu says the move is testament to the party’s true intentions and nature.
Xulu says the MK Party was not founded on ideology, but rather it is made up of a group of angry Zuma supporters who used to benefit from State Capture, which is blamed for crippling state-owned entities.
He says what Injenje Council stands for nor says does not represent all Amakhosi and Izinduna in KZN but the interests of the Zuma faction, which is led by Indunankulu Phumlani kaMfeka, who is the former president’s relative.
