MK Party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, says Jabulani Khumalo is not the founder of the party.
He was apparently only sent to register the party as former president Jacob Zuma had initially clearly stated that he would take over as time went on.
Ndhlela was reacting to the controversy that was sparked by Khumalo’s letter to the IEC, requesting the electoral body to remove Zuma from the ballot paper as the MK Party leader and face.
Ndhlela says the expelled MK Party’s “founder” is now probably being driven by the quest for more as the election day edges closer after having, briefly, experienced a funded lifestyle.
The MK Party spokesperson says most people are in the MK for the love of Zuma and Khumalo is an insignificant player in the matter.
The IEC has distanced itself from the controversy, saying it does not involve itself in the internal affairs of political parties and will await communication on a way forward from Zuma since he is the registered leader of the party.
YNews in Mpumalanga spoke to voters who will be partaking in the upcoming elections to find their views on this matter.
While some are pitying Khumalo, saying he was played by the former president,
Denzel Sandile believes that the expelled MK Party founder is just trying to portray the party as unstable.
He says Khumalo is not fit to lead the country and the IEC was correct not to entertain his request.
A member of the Mkhonto weSizwe in Mpumalanga, James Nyatsikati, agrees with Ndhlela that Zuma has the heart of many.
He says should he be removed from the ballot – he will be one of those who will not vote on the 29th of this month. Written by Pleasure Nkosi
