The Constitutional Court has granted the MK Party an extension to prepare its case against the IEC.
The two entities will soon be squaring off at the Apex Court over Jacob Zuma’s candidacy in the upcoming elections.
The Electoral Commission is seeking clarity from the court on Zuma’s eligibility to run for public office before 5 years has lapsed since he was convicted of defying a Constitutional Court order.
However, Zuma’s lawyers believe there’s no substance to that as the former president was not criminally charged but subjected to civil contempt proceedings.
MK Party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, has previously told YNews that they want the 82-year-old to return to office and finish what he started when he was still president.
Ndhlela described the overturning of the IEC’s ban of Zuma from partaking in the upcoming elections as historic.
The party is confident Zuma will be on the ballot on May 29 and will cause an upset for the governing ANC.
Pensioners really love Zuma, his face in the ballot paper will hurt ANC badly.
