Bafana Bafana head coach, Hugo Broos, has named 10 new faces in his squad to take on Andorra and Algeria later this month in the FIFA Series international friendlies pilot project in Algeria.
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Bruce Bvuma, returns to the national team following a lengthy absence of Orlando Pirates’ Tapelo Xoki. Siyabonga Ngezana of Romanian Club FCSB also cracked the nod.
The midfield will see the return of Chippa United hard-man, Goodman Mosele, as well as SuperSport United’s Grant Margerman.
The forwards will see Pirates’ Patrick Maswanganyi and AmaZulu’s Mlondi Mbanjwa receive their maiden call-ups, while Iqraam Rayners of Stellenbosch FC, Elias Mokwana of Sekhukhune United, and Khanyiso Mayo also make the squad.
The FIFA event will run from next Monday to the 26th of this month. It will be the first time that Broos reunites with his team since beating DR Congo 6-5 on penalties in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) third-place play-off to win bronze at the continental tournament in Côte d’Ivoire last month.
Coach Broos’ charges play the first match against Andorra next week Thursday. They then face the hosts at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers on Tuesday, the 26th before returning home the following day.
