Five of the seven people arrested for the murder of one of Mzansi’s beloved Hip-Hop rapper, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, and his friend, chef and entrepreneur, Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, will appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court today.

Six of the suspects were arrested over a six-month period while the seventh accused was nabbed yesterday.

Two of them are yet to be extradited from eSwatini, where had been hiding at the time of their arrest.

Police Minister, Bheki Cele, and KZN police commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, have expressed confidence that they have arrested the right people, saying they had been tailing the suspects for a while.

Addressing the media on Tuesday night, Mkhwanazi said AKA was the main target of the alleged hit.

While it’s not yet clear who was behind the alleged hit nor what the motive for the musician’s murder was – some South Africans believe it might have had to do with the death of AKA’s late girlfriend, Anele Tembe.

Assertions AKA’s family has long rubbished.

Under #JusticeForAKA, fans have taken to social media to express their hope that justice is on the horizon for the superstar.
