Tanzanian acrobats, Fadhili Ramadhani (36) and Ibrahim Jobu (26) made history by emerging as the winners of the inaugural season of America’s Got Talent’s Fantasy League.
In the show, judges are choosing their ultimate line-up from talent acts from around the world to compete in a high-stakes competition, guiding and supporting contestants towards success.
The duo beat out nine other finalists to take home the prestigious trophy and a cash prize of $250 000, which is about R4 729 225.
Fadhili and Ibrahim are known for their daring head-balancing performances, which impressed both the judges and audience throughout the competition.
Their mentor, judge Howie Mandel, described their routine as “probably one of the most terrifying acts in AGT history.”
“Our lives are changing from this moment,” said an excited Fadhili after their victory.
In an interview with People Magazine, Ibrahim revealed their plans for the prize money, saying they intend to use it to purchase equipment, upgrade their training centre in Tanzania, and support other acrobats in their community to improve their lives. They also hope to buy land and build homes for themselves.
Social commentators say the duo’s success not only showcases their talent and dedication, but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring acrobats and performers around the world – while breaking barriers and opening doors for diverse talents to shine on a larger stage. Written by Tshenolo Khaile
