Canadian Rapper, Drake, lost a whopping $700 000 (R13.3 million) after placing his bet on defending UFC champion, Sean Strickland, to win the coveted UFC middleweight title.
The American MMA champion faced a fall from grace on Sunday after Dricus Du Plessis made history as the first South African to win the championship.
Ahead of the fight, Drake took to Instagram, showing off his bet ticket.
The “God’s Plan” hitmaker was banking on Strickland to defend his middleweight world title, but things didn’t go to plan as the champion lost his belt by split decision.
Fans have since taken to social media, poking fun at the rap star for his loss.
It’s been a long-running joke that whenever Drake bets on a fighter, you can count on the athlete to be “cursed.”
Du Plessis took to X to roast the rap star, and thank him for the win.
Drake is no stranger to placing big bets at UFC fights. He lost $920 000 when Israel Adesanya shockingly lost his world title to the American Strickland last September.
