Three men suspected to be child online sexual predators appeared at various courts in Gauteng on Monday, facing charges of possession, distribution, manufacturing, accessing and downloading child pornography.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations (SECI) unit nabbed them during a sting operation that was in collaboration with the USA Department of Homelands Security.
One of the suspects, a 63-year-old male British citizen who was found to be in the country illegally, was arrested in Springs, in Ekurhuleni. He faces a string of offences including, the possession, distribution and making available child pornography as well as exposing a child to adult and child pornography.
He also faces a charge of bestiality after the police found material of him allegedly having sexual intercourse with a dog.
The other two suspects are both 43-year-old South African males and were arrested in Benoni and Krugersdorp, respectively. They also face a string of child pornography charges.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, says the three children and a dog who are victims of the trio have been saved.
It is understood that the trio already appeared before various courts in Springs, Benoni and Krugersdorp Magistrates Court in Gauteng on Monday, 13 November 2023. Their cases were postponed for further investigation and bail applications.
