Unisa Vice-Chancellor, Professor Puleng LenkaBula, says any administrative challenges currently facing the university can be solved without placing the institution under administration.
Her comments come at the back of the North Gauteng High Court ruling, ordering Higher Education Minister, Dr Blade Nzimande, to reverse his decision to place the institution under administration.
LenkaBula says the cloud of maladministration challenges hanging over the university must be dealt with internally.
She added that her top priority remains the students, who may suffer disruptions to their exams pending the ongoing legal battle.
The decision to place the institution under administration came following the recommendations of an independent assessor.
He found that serious financial mismanagement and maladministration had taken place at the university.
Nzimande quickly placed the institution under administration, despite a court interdict preventing the move.
The Vice-Chancellor has denied that the ongoing legal battle has caused friction with the Higher Education Minster.
