The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has warned of severe thunderstorms expected in parts of the country this week, as temperatures drop.
The weather service has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms, in part of Gauteng, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo.

Heavy downpours may lead to localised flooding in low-lying areas.

However, residents can expect warmer conditions to return from Thursday in the province.
Yellow level 5 and 6 warnings have been issued from the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal respectively.

Forecaster, Lehlohonolo Thobela, says the cold weather is expected to hit across the North West and Mpumalanga as well.

Emergency services in Johannesburg remain on high alert amid the expected severe thunderstorms.

Motorist have also been warned to drive with caution on the slippery roads.
Following recent fatal fires in some informal settlements in the province – emergency services’ spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, is advising residents to avoid leaving heating devices unattended.
