Political analyst, Professor Sam Koma, says it is commendable that the South African government has openly condemned the attack on the Gaza Strip by Hamas, calling for an end to the violence.
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco), along with political parties and civil rights organisations, have joined come out in one voice – calling for an immediate cease-fire and peace talks amid the renewed conflict.
Koma says while the UN has on several occasions denounced the violence in the area, the UN Security Council, must pronounce on a need for the two sides to find lasting peace.
