A third suspects has been arrested in connection with the recent drugging of 90 learners in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

The learners from Pulamadibogo Primary School were hospitalised last week after consuming drug-laced muffins they allegedly bought from the suspects.

The three men appeared briefly before the Soshanguve Magistrates Court this afternoon.

Katlego Matlala (29), Ofentse Maluleka (21) and Amukelani Nyalunga (19) face nine counts of attempted murder.

Gauteng Education MEC, Matome Chiloane, through his spokesperson Steve Mabona has applaudedĀ  the police for the latest arrest.

The pupils were taken in for medical attention following the incident, with complaints of nausea, mouth-foaming, and even loss of vision from some of the children.

The Gauteng Education Department has confirmed all 90 of the learners have since been successfully discharged.

Mabona says he hopes their prosecution will act as a deterrent to would-be-criminals.
