The Premier Soccer League will observe a moment of silence this weekend at all of their DStv Premiership, Motsepe Foundation Championship, and DStv Diski Challenge matches in honour of legendary Mamelodi Sundowns football administrator, Alex ‘Goldfingers’ Shakoane.
Shakoane passed away on Sunday after falling ill.
The 67-year-old had been at Sundowns since the club’s formative years in the 1970s where he held numerous roles. He was the club’s Supporters Mobilisation Manager at the time of his passing.
Speaking at a memorial service held in Shakoane’s honour, Sundowns legend Tiyani ‘Shuga’ Mabunda said: “Bra Alex made you feel like the only person in his life. You’d feel like all of his attention is on you and everyone here could speak about how Bra Alex made them feel special.”
Sundowns will play on Saturday in the semi-final of the CAF Champions League against Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca in Morocco. Article by Ntsako Mkhari
