Actress Simphiwe Ngema has sent social media abuzz after admitting to having done business and visited Thabo Bester while he was behind bars.
In a statement, Ngema says she visited the Facebook rapist and murderer in April 2018 to demand money that Bester allegedly owed her.
The actress says she met Bester, who was working in the entertainment industry, and he introduced himself as TK Motsepe. She did not state the date or year of their meeting.
“He seemed well connected and was able to organise meetings and big events which I and many other public figures were booked for, ” the statement reads.
Ngema says she was not paid for some of the events she was booked for by Bester’s Century 21 business venture, which he ran while serving life and 30 years for various crimes, including aggravated robbery, at the Mangaung Correctional Centre.
Some South Africans have reacted with shock to the actress’ revelations. They have taken to social media to express their views on Ngema’s encounter with the convicted rapist and murderer.
The revelations come as Bester’s lover and alleged business partner, Dr Nandipha Magudumana attempts to get bail.
Magudumana who was arrested with Bester in Tanzania in April is one of those arrested for assisting the fraudster and murderer escape from lawful custody.
