#RepYourHood rap battle Ep 2: Bez Valley vs Ladysmith vs Kensington
Written by Boitumelo Mmakou on 13th Nov 2020
#SAHipHopLive cypher is another hit this week, as the episode paints an even clearer view of what real rap talent is all about.
While episode one made Germiston look like the home of hip hop cyphers with Taylor T taking the title, there is no telling who will take the best title this time.
The second episode brings forward mad lyrical skills from rappers; Gravity from Bez Valley, original content from Ntombela who is from Ladysmith and then there is Abstract, a dynamic rapper from Kensington.
Hosts, OG Samke, and lawd of the decks DJ Zan-D showcase talented rappers from various places around the country with the aim of finding out which hood has the best rappers in SA.
The idea of the cypher is to capture rap that best represents everyone’s hoods. And in the second episode, we see just how big the guys bring it.
The three rappers go head to head representing where they come from through raps. Two beats (locally produced) will be provided by T Kid The Producer. The rappers must use this beat to prepare a verse for each beat then come perform the verse in attempts to “Rep their hood.”
What brings equality to this cypher is equality as the Yires gets to decide which hood had the best rapper each week.
