Sho Madjozi, Black Motion and Sauti Sol made the Queen Sono soundtrack

Everyone is raving about the upcoming Netflix crime-drama titled Queen Sono, starring South African leading lady, Pearl Thusi. Here’s why.

The most exciting thing about this production is that it has been named the first Netflix Original series in Africa.

The series is also hecticly star-studded guys.

First of all, it’s created by Kagiso Lediga and co-directed by Lediga and SA TV and Film royalty, Tebogo Malope.

But wait. It gets better…

The cast features Vuyo Dabula, Sechaba Morojele, Chi Mhende, Loyiso Madinga, Rob Van Vuuren, Kate Liquorish, Khathu Ramabulana, Enhle Maphumulo, Abigail Kubeka, Connie Chiume, Otto Nobela and James Ngcobo.

“We are excited to be working with Kagiso and Pearl, to bring the story of Queen Sono to life, and we expect it to be embraced by our South African users and global audiences alike.” said Erik Barmack, Vice President of International Original Series at Netflix.

We know it’s not a superhero production but the art direction, soundtrack and trailer gives us major Black Panther vibes.

Speaking of the soundtrack, your fave, founder of the Limpopo Champions Leaugue, Sho Madjozi mentioned that she hooked up the soundtrack, alongside Black Motion and Sauti Sol. So obviously it’s FIRE.

Queen Sono is set to premiere on Netflix on February 28, 2020.
