The twins were exposed to bullying at school for their size and weight, and this inspired them to turn themselves into a body positive brand.
As young women who’d been on the receiving end of body shaming, they’re very passionate about spreading body positivity. The twins used social media as a tool to overcome society’s criticisms. Tsholofelo and Tshegofatso said they became more comfortable with themselves when they saw girls such as Thickleyonce on social media. Despite the increased awareness and representation this has not stopped people from body shaming the pair,
“People have a problem if we dress in a certain way, because we’re too big or we’re overweight.”
The twins enthused that they do regular health checks further stating,
“we do sports at school, and we used to go to a dietitian where she gave us our daily plans, and we still stick to those plans every day, so I think we’re really healthy.”
The twins said that often it’s people’s mindset that allows them to believe that because they’re bigger they’re unhealthy.
