The star attended the launch of the new music institution, Bridges for Music Academy in Cape Town. This is where the inspitation for her academy was born. Artiste, Sho Madjozi, opened up on social media about her desire to start her own music academy in her village in Limpopo. Madjozi aims to equip community members with knowledge and skills that they would need to flourish in the entertainment industry. Nothing is better than being schooled by the best in the game, right?
Speaking to Channel24.co.za, The “John Cena” hitmaker explains further:
“Every time something great happens in my career you have like the Minister of Arts and Culture and the minister of this and that saying, ‘now you’ve proved that it’s possible for a girl from Shirley Village to make it here’. And I’m like, ‘no, I haven’t’. It happened to me by sheer luck, chance, positioning and the opportunities that I’ve been able to have and it’s not possible for someone sitting in my village at the moment.”
The rapper believes it’s time to “stop celebrating the one person that manages to beat all the odds and make it.”
Instead, Madjozi encourages people to “tackle those odds,” and rise above them.
