Some social media users have accused American rapper, Nicki Minaj, of spreading false and misleading information.
This follows her public endorsement of US President Donald Trump’s claims that Christians are being targeted in Nigeria, made during her speech at a UN event yesterday.
Her remarks come just weeks after Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, rejected Trump’s allegations of Christian persecution.
Posting on his Truth Social page, Trump said the United States could deploy troops to Nigeria to halt what he called the “killing of large numbers of Christians” by militant groups.
He also accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect vulnerable communities.
Trump recently relisted Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a US designation applied to nations accused of violating religious freedoms.

Analysts note that while Christians in Nigeria do face attacks, they are not the only victims – with communities across the country suffering from Boko Haram-linked violence for years.
Speaking at the UN event, the 42-year-old rapper claimed churches in Nigeria have been burned and families torn apart, adding that her message “is not about taking sides or dividing people, but about uniting humanity.”
Social media users slammed Minaj, pointing out that analysts and Nigeria’s own government — have repeatedly stated that the country’s violence affects people across all communities, not only Christians.
Critics also referenced her history of spreading misinformation, including her widely debunked COVID-19 vaccine claims, arguing that she is once again using her platform irresponsibly.
Proud is an understatement. Moments like this remind us why we stand beside Nicki Minaj. She spoke with beauty, clarity, and a grace only a chosen voice can carry. Every time she steps up, she shows the world what real leadership sounds like.#UnitedNationsBarbie #UNBarbie pic.twitter.com/BCmWstpHw8

if i told someone ten years ago that nicki minaj would end up a maga supporter, married to a convicted r*pist, and a bitter lady blaming her problems on conspiracy theories and jay‑z, nobody would have believed me.pic.twitter.com/1D4KxrPNpe

In one of the worst times in political history, Nicki Minaj is supporting the Trump administration.
There is NOTHING any of you can say to me about her.
Nothing.
