The actual turnout at American actor and musician Will Smith’s UK concert has come under scrutiny, amid allegations that AI-generated crowds were used in footage shared online.

Some social media users raised questions after Smith posted a video thanking fans, saying: “My favourite part of the tour is seeing you all up close. Thank you for seeing me, too.”

The Hollywood star is currently touring Europe, Morocco and the United Kingdom – marking his first tour in years and coinciding with the release of his new album, Based on a True Story, his first in two decades.

Fans who’ve seen his latest video have noticed distorted faces, unnatural limb shapes, and the unmistakable visual glitches commonly associated with heavy use of AI.

Another notable moment featured a man holding a placard thanking the 56-year-old star for helping him survive cancer.

Some fans who attended Smith concerts in the UK have taken issue with his heavy-handed use of AI, insisting the shows were well attended.
