Music fans draw comparisons between Tyla and Ayra Starr

Nigerian music sensation, Ayra Starr’s, recent performance at Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres Tour earlier this week, has sparked social media comparisons to South African Grammy award winner Tyla.

While some said that their style isn’t exactly similar, others further pointed out that the 23-year-old’s aesthetic is similar to Mzansi’s star girl.

This isn’t the first the two artists have been pitted against each other online. However, that hasn’t affected their friendship, as they’ve always candidly spoken about their relationship.

Tyla, known for her “pop meets amapiano” sound, and Ayra Starr, whose music blends Afrobeat, R&B, and neo-soul, have been pitted against each other online since as far back as 2023.

In interviews, Tyla has shared that their friendship began on social media before blossoming in person.
