Sekhukhune United Chairman, Sello Malatji, has poured cold water on reports that Bafana Bafana defender, Vuyo Letlapa, could move abroad in this transfer window.
The 21-year old Sekhukhune defender has enjoyed a dream 12 months, that has seen him earn a Bafana debut as well as interest from abroad.
The latest offer for Letlapa came from Austrian sides Austria Wien and Rapid Wien.
However, Malatji says this is not the right time for the former Jomo Cosmos player to move.
“Yes, offers came forth, however, we realised that he still needs to remain, either next season so that he can be a better quality (player) and it’s always our call so that anyone who wants to grow must be given the opportunity,” he said.
“So, that tomorrow, we know, he himself as well, that when he’s that side, perhaps we can identify talent and we ensure that, we (as) blacks can grow.”
He also warned Letlapa to not grow an ego, just because of the interest from other teams.
Meanwhile, Letlapa says that the interest from overseas has also helped him not to drop his standards.
“When it comes to interest and offers, it can be locally or overseas, it is a thing that you can say [ntwana] push because you see that there are teams that are looking for you. So, you don’t have to disappoint them, you just need to keep working hard and whatever that they saw, they still need to see it,” said the player.
