Former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro says he would never return to coach another team in the Premier Soccer League other than Orlando Pirates.

Tuesday night marked his final game in charge, culminating in a convincing 3-0 victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium. The win was a much-needed boost for the Buccaneers after their defeat to arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup final in Durban.”

The Spaniard received a hero’s send-off following his request for an early exit from his contract which was set to expire at the end of June.

“No [I won’t consider another PSL club], never,” he said in the post-match press conference. “Never… Once Always – I will never coach any other team in South Africa. I am a Buccaneer.

“Orlando Pirates is the only club that I could have the motivation and the courage and energy, and the heart in this case to coach in the country, no doubt.”

Riveiro leaves South Africa having won three MTN8 titles in a row and two Nedbank Cup crowns.

He looks set to be unveiled as the successor to Marcel Koller at Egyptian side Al Ahly this week.
