Orlando Pirates 1-0 aggregate over MC Algiers in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals will be somewhat overshadowed by the sheer violence that took place after the match at the Orlando Stadium.
The fracas started in the second half when the Algiers supporters started fighting among themselves in the stands; the police got involved and also caught blows before managing to quell the situation.

One of the main instigators of the physical violence was when of the Algiers officials attacked Pirates head of security, Nhlanhla Jwara, from behind which then resulted in the Pirates players charging after him.

Tempers only dropped about an hour post the match.
The game finished in a 0-0 draw, but Pirates’ 1-0 victory in Algeria last week was enough to see them join Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly, and Pyramids in the semi-finals.
