Another victim has been identified in the Zanzou nightclub sexual abuse saga.

This emerged in the Pretoria Magistrates Court today, where the 41-year-old Congolese man arrested in connection with alleged abuse at the nightclub made a brief appearance.

According to the prosecution, the young man came forward at the weekend – bringing the total number of identified victims in the case to seven.

They’re expected to shed light on what unfolded at the nightclub on the day bouncers inflicted unspeakable physical and sexual violence on patrons in videos that have gone viral on social media and had South Africans up in arms.

The Congolese national, who is in police custody over the scandal, has accused police of abuse.

The man, who was apprehended in Yeoville last month, is not being named at this stage pending an identity parade.

The case continues on the 28th of this month with the suspect expected to make a formal bail application.

The MK Party has encouraged more victims of torture and sexual abuse at Zanzou to speak out.

MK Party Gauteng Spokesperson, Bafana Mahlabe, says he does not believe the 2023 abuse of the young men was an isolated incident.

“This matter is widespread. There are serious allegations of people having lost their lives in some of these establishments,” he said.

At least seven more suspects are at large for their alleged involvement in the gruesome torture that’s rocked the nation.

Pressure is mounting on the police to widen their search for the suspects.
