The President of the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) has hit back at the EFF’s complaint against the ANC’s youth wing’s Treasurer General, Zwelo Masilela.
The red berets have approached the Public Protector, requesting that she investigates Masilela for alleged corruption.
But Malatji believes the EFF is trying to divert attention from its leader, who the ANCYL leader says is the corrupt one.
“A corrupt organisation like the EFF, led by corrupt CIC goes and lay charges to the public protector about something that is not there,” claims Malatji.
Malatji referenced a number of cases that Malema has been fingered in.
“Even today, we still don’t know – he has survived a case of money laundering; a case of corruption; a case of using a trust fund of his son; a child born and given a name of an institution that will be utilised to steal from the poor in Limpopo,” remarks Malatji.
He also claims that the EFF has collapsed municipalities, which they were entrusted to govern.
Malatji says the red berets do not have grounds to lay complaints against anyone over corruption as they do not have the credibility to be seen as upholding the country’s Constitution.
He has, however, encouraged the probe, commending the move to approach the Public Protector.
“…but the Public Protector is a good institution. They must go there and do whatever to investigate. We are clear that they will get the right answers.”
The ANCYL president also threatened that his organisation will soon be opening a cases against the red berets.
“We will also be on them. Very soon we will be opening a case against them also. It means the EFF and the Youth league will be busy in police stations very soon.”
In a string of jabs against the EFF, Malatji projects that the party will be extinct by next year.
“I would act the same if I was losing the elections and not growing with a clear program that in 2026 there will be no EFF in this country because no one is going to vote for a populist like that one. They are highly rejected by everyone and frustrated,” he adds.
EFF MP, Sihle Lonzi, had slammed Masilela’s answers at the recent NYDA interviews as proof of the incompetence of some of the ANC members who are allegedly given jobs purely because of their political connections.
Masilela, who works as a senior researcher at the Mbombela Local Municipality, was vying for a position in the NYDA board.
We may laugh about these NYDA interviews, but the painful truth is that there are so many hardworking youth in South Africa, who are not politically connected, who get neglected and overlooked because corrupt individuals are prioritised ahead of them💔
