EFF Secretary-General, Marshall Dlamini, has made it clear that the party won’t be attending the MK Party’s first anniversary celebrations.
The announcement comes as the EFF prepares for its 3rd National People’s Assembly, where new leadership will be elected.
According to Dlamini, the EFF never received an invitation, and even if they had, they wouldn’t be sending a delegation.
MK party Secretary General Floyd Shivambu, who ditched the EFF for the Zuma-led party in August, extended the invite on Wednesday.
After taking the EFF’s spot as the third largest political party at the May polls, the MK Party will celebrate it’s one year anniversary at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban this weekend.
“I don’t have a letter from the MK President. They put it on the media. We are not going to the rally of MK,” Dlamini put it.
Meanwhile, EFF Gauteng leader, Nkululeko Dunga, says the party’s next Deputy President will have to be a leader who has shown loyalty to the party since its inception in 2013.
The EFF will be looking to re-invent itself following the mass exodus of several prominent leaders including, Shivambu and former chairperson, Dali Mpofu,to the MK Party.
Dunga says the mass exit of the leaders shows the party has been infiltrated.
He says for the renewal of the organisation, new and trusted leadership must be elected to the top six structures.
Young people have also shared their views on which EFF leaders should join the party’s top six.
Over the next three days, delegates will be voting for several key roles in the party, including Deputy President, Treasurer General and the parties National Chairperson.
There’s talk that Gauteng delegates could nominate MP, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi to oppose Gordich Gardee, who is the former party secretary general of the party and Malema’s preferred candidate for the role of Deputy President.
YNews spoke with young EFF supporters, some of whom say Ndlozi’s charm will win him votes.
Others say Gardee has the expertise needed to take the party forward.
