Sport Minister, Gayton McKenzie, has moved to assure the nation that he’s not resting on his laurels over the leadership concerns at the South African Football Association (SAFA).
SAFA’s President, Danny Jordaan, and the association’s Chief Financial Officer, Gronie Hluyo, will make their second appearance at the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court on Thursday on charges of theft amounting to R1.3m from the association.
Since assuming his position, the Minister has not hidden his dissatisfaction with the leaders in Nasrec.

He says he’s given Jordaan & SAFA a mandate to qualify for the upcoming #AFCONQ2025 and the FIFA World Cup.

Jordaan’s arrest last month has once again attracted the Minister’s attention.

“I’m concerned by what’s happening,” McKenzie told the media.
“I’ll not be a leader and a minister if I’m not concerned. But I must also say to you that rules are rules. FIFA has rules of non-interference by politicians. So, the same people who want me to interfere are the same people who will hate me tomorrow if we get expelled by FIFA. So, what I’ve done is I’ve made contact with the president of FIFA through Safa to have a meeting with him. In that meeting, I want to be guided by him on what is to be done with this situation.” Written by Ntsako Mkhari
