ActionSA’s national leadership has strongly refuted claims by its Tshwane branch that it has left its coalition with the DA in the capital city and will be going into bed with the ANC.
ActionSA’s Tshwane Caucus leader, Jackie Mathabathe, had made the allegations.
Mthabathe made the remarks during a media briefing alongside the ANC, EFF, and ACDP, where the parties announced that they will be working together.
The ANC in Tshwane also revealed that it has temporarily withdrawn its motion of no confidence against DA Tshwane Mayor, Cilliers Brink.
The party’s secretary in Tshwane, George Matjila, says this is to allow for the courts to deal with Brink’s bid to interdict the motion.
He launched it at the high court in Pretoria.
Following this announcement, Brink took to X to express his disappointment in the news of ActionSA, describing it as a betrayal of coalition partners and the people of Tshwane.
I’ve just learnt that @Action4SA’s Tshwane caucus leader has told media outside Tshwane House that the party is leaving the Tshwane Multi-Party Coalition. I haven’t received any notice to this effect, but in light of what has happened up to this point I can only assume that this…

While the temporary removal of the motion might mean Brink can breathe a sigh of relief, it has also exposed the cracks within ActionSA.
In a statement, the party says it’s undergoing a period of review, regarding its position in the governing coalition in the City of Tshwane.
“The views of ActionSA structures rightly reflect a growing frustration about disparate levels of service delivery in Tshwane that is impacting most fundamentally upon residents, especially those living in the townships in Tshwane. Until ActionSA has concluded its review, the party will not be making any official pronouncements about our position in the City of Tshwane,” it adds.
In a statement, the DA in Tshwane accused ActionSA of selling the metro’s residents to the EFF and other parties.
The DA believes that refusing to participate in constructive discussions with Brink, as well as ActionSA’s failure to register its frustration with the city’s coalition partners, is proof that they have now bowed out of the very same agreement that ensured Tshwane’s turnaround.
DA Tshwane Caucus Spokesperson, Kwena Moloto, says they will continue to fight for the residents of Tshwane
